Vocal Space
We live in a wonderful world where technology makes anything and everything possible – especially online. We love it and we loathe it. The uncomfortable sense of moving too fast. The feeling of a hurried mass encroaching on a timelessness that we used to carry on the inside. The uneasy realisation that our sense of direction a blur.
There is the craving for space. Space in the cavity beneath our ribs, where our lungs sit. For unhurried air to flood our senses with eternity. For a transaction of the soul in the middle of our urban disconnect. The craving to be saturated with a sense of identity that is both rich and simple, shared and unique, intricately layered yet transparent and accessible. Our need for vocal space.
Nowhere is this ache for space felt more intensely than with the people whose cultures and languages are being trampled in the global appetite for increase at any cost. The cost of our common progress is weighed in numbers, in dollars, in measurable quantities. It is no wonder then, that the wealth of our human inheritance is so thoughtlessly undervalued.
This blog marks the beginning of the development of an organisation devoted to the cause of bringing Vocal Space – bringing cultural amplification – to those whose number is too small to count, to those whose cultural voices are being lost in the deafening sound of an oblivious majority. Vocal Space will endeavor to bring corporate and individual self-awareness, contemplation and reorientation, particularly to those in society that have the power to effect significant change.
